The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, cut the ribbon for five new projects consisting of new and renovated buildings and new equipment for the Ministry of Transport and Road Development of the Republic of Somaliland, and the Road Development Agency (RDA).

The President, along with members of the cabinet of ministers, the governor of the Central Bank, the Managing- Director of the Road Development Agency, the leadership of the police and leaders of the Maroodi Jeeh region, attended the opening of five major projects, consisting of a new building dedicated to housing the Road Development Agency, a new building for the licensing department, a car branding and records for the Ministry of Transport and Road Development, a state-of-the-art underground vehicle maintenance and testing facility, a laboratory to check the quality of materials used in roads building and equipment purchased for the highway between Erigavo and Burao.

The President, after a brief inspection of the newly expanded facilities, listened to reports from experts, and engineers with knowledge of the new facilities briefed the head of state on the importance of the equipment and construction sustainable roads for a long time.

In a brief ceremony held at the Road Development Agency, the head of the Road Development Agency, Mr. Ahmed Yusuf Mohamed, spoke at length about the agency’s efforts to meet all road needs in the country. Existing and supply of the necessary infrastructure for road construction are central to the economy, connectivity, and development of the country.

Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the Minister of Finance Development and Mr. Ali Ibrahim Jama (Baghdadi) the Governor of the Central Bank of Somaliland who were among the dignitaries speaking during the occasion commended the officials of the Road Development Agency and Ministry of Transport for speeding up development work and acquiring state of art equipment and facilities that will benefit the nation in the long term.

The Minister of Transport and Road Development, Mr. Abdullahi Abokor Osman, in his speech, noted the many achievements and highlighting the setting up of a wealth of capabilities important to the national security and transit safety. He added, “Mr. President, Today we own facilities to track every vehicle in the country in seconds unlike before when it was difficult to track public or state-owned vehicles, on the other hand, we can now record every vehicle coming into the country every year, every month and every day.

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, on the inauguration of new buildings and equipment has at the Ministry of Transport and Road Development, commended the authorities in charge, and stated that if the public consulted and worked together much could be accomplished and we can build most major roads and highways within a short period. “With combined resources, through contributions from every citizen, government, and leadership organizing and knowledge, I think we can achieve it.”

Finally, the president directed those in charge for the development of the roads to increase their efforts, and to achieve the national goal of modernizing the national roads network to ease the movements of citizens living in far and isolate places and urged the public to do more by jointly contributing in the country’s road development
