President Muse Bihi Abdi has sent a message of condolence to the family, Artistes Fraternity, relatives, and friends and traditional elders and fellow Somalilanders at large on the death of the Late Sahardiid Mahmoud Elmi (Abwaan Jebiye) who passed away on the 15/06/2019 in Hargeisa.
President Muse Bihi Abdi said, “The Late Sahardiid Mahmoud Elmi (Abwaan Jebiye) played an important role in the arts community as a poet-songwriter and his pro-independence songs most notably” Aynu Maalno Hasheena Maandeeq”. He joined the arts fraternity in 1950 till his death today; He was such a great inspiration to those who were upcoming.” He worked in the Ministry of Information and Culture of Somaliland. The deceased, born in 1938 and raised in Hargeisa, where he spent most of the youthful years and studied, will be remembered for his patriotism and as loving Person.
May Allah (SWT) bless his soul our thoughts and our prayers are with his family during this difficult time? His sudden death is a great loss to his family and to the Somaliland nation at large.
