The two official opposition parties Somaliland and the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications have today in joint press statement accused the current government of not honoring recent deal reached by the government and opposition political organizations meant to resolve and find a solution on the outstanding issues on the timeline of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary after the house of elders “Guurti” declined to endorse it.

In the dialogue deal reached between the current government and the three official political parties, which announced by the Vice President, and called on all concerned to reach an “agreement to overcome the current crisis and ensure that elections are held as soon as possible.”

In a joint press conference held in Hargeisa on Thursday, UCID, WADDANI and members of the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications issued ultimatum warning the present government to come clean and state its stand on the joint deal before the June 26, 2015 or else they will be forced to call a national consultative meeting in which they will denounce the current government.

Hon Feisal Ali Waraabe, the chairman of the justice and Welfare party (UCID) speaking during the joint press conference urged President Silanyo to issue a Presidential decree on joint agreement to overcome the current crisis and ensure to state clearly the date of holding the upcoming elections.

The two opposition parties Somaliland and the National Forum for Consultations and Rectifications wish to inform the public that the present has failed honor the agreement to overcome the current crisis and ensure that elections are held as soon as possible and that President Silanyo will be accountable for any consequences to follow.

Hon Abdurrahman Abdullah Mohamed “Irro”, the chairman of WADANI party said, “The country urgently needs a national consultation forum meant to save the nation and to solve the current political crisis and to announce a specific date for holding the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary election.

Hon Jamal Ali Hussein, the UCID Presidential candidate speaking at the joint press conference said, “If the present government doesn’t make its position clear within the coming 24 hours, it means the current government is not ready to honor the joint deal we reached on solving current crisis and we shall be forced to convene a national consultation forum in a bid to seek other alternatives.

The Somaliland government has not issued any statement in response to the latest opposition ultimatum at the time of our reporting.
