The Chief of the Somaliland National Army, Major General Nimaan Yusuf Gaaxnuug, together with the Minister of Defence, Mohamed Yusuf Ali, have completed a multi-day operational tour of the eastern provinces and today carried out a high-level inspection of forward military positions in the Sanaag region. The visit underscores the government’s continued commitment to assessing the readiness and welfare of its forces stationed along strategic frontlines.

Accompanied by senior military aides, the two officials traveled to the frontline encampments in Jiidali and its surrounding districts, where they conducted an on-the-ground assessment of troop deployments, logistical capabilities, and operational preparedness. During the visit, they held closed-door briefings with field commanders and rank-and-file soldiers, receiving detailed reports on the overall morale, supply chain status, and the security challenges facing the units in the area.

The inspection also provided an opportunity for the senior leaders to reaffirm the national importance of the military’s mission. In their addresses to the troops, Major General Gaaxnuug and Minister Ali praised the unwavering dedication and patriotic spirit of the soldiers, highlighting their vital role in preserving the territorial integrity of Somaliland and ensuring the safety of civilian communities along the borderlands.

The commanders further emphasized that the government remains fully committed to supporting the armed forces with the necessary resources and training to effectively counter any threats to national stability. They called on the troops to maintain their vigilance, professionalism, and unity of purpose in the discharge of their duties.

The tour reflects a broader effort by the Somaliland administration to reinforce its defense posture in the eastern regions, as part of ongoing measures to secure the nation’s sovereignty and uphold public order in sensitive areas.
