Hargeisa — Telesom Group has expressed great pride in supporting and sponsoring the annual International Qur’an Recitation Competition, which officially opened this year in Hargeisa. The company described its continued backing of the event as part of its broader commitment to education, faith and youth development.

This year’s competition is the 11th consecutive edition and brings together contestants from 15 countries, including the United States, Egypt, Kenya and several other nations. Somaliland becomes the second country to host the competition, following Kuwait, a development that highlights the growing international character of the event and Hargeisa’s capacity to host major religious and cultural gatherings.

Telesom Group said it believes that knowledge is the foundation of social progress, while the Holy Qur’an and education are essential pillars in building individuals who possess knowledge, good morals and a strong sense of responsibility. The company added that investing in Qur’anic, educational and knowledge-based programs is not only a sponsorship activity but also part of its role in developing the younger generation and strengthening society.

According to Telesom, its support for such initiatives reflects a long-term vision of creating a future built on knowledge, values and capability. By backing the Qur’an recitation competition, the company aims to encourage young people to excel spiritually and intellectually, while also promoting discipline, humility and community responsibility.

The event also serves as a platform for participants from different countries to demonstrate their recitation skills, exchange experience and strengthen ties among Qur’anic students and scholars. For Somaliland, hosting the competition is seen as an opportunity to showcase its hospitality and its commitment to religious scholarship and education.

Telesom Group reaffirmed that its continued investment in education and Qur’anic programs forms part of its corporate social responsibility and its wider contribution to nation-building. The company said it remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that empower young people and help build a generation grounded in faith, knowledge and positive values.
