HARGEISA, Somaliland – The Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) has reached a significant milestone in its healthcare capacity-building program in Somaliland, with over 300 doctors and nurses having successfully completed advanced emergency medical training since the initiative was launched in December 2024.
Implemented in partnership with Somaliland’s health sector authorities, the program has delivered 13 Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) workshops and 11 Pre-hospital Emergency Care (PEC) workshops, equipping frontline healthcare professionals with critical life-saving competencies.
Each three-day workshop combined intensive theoretical instruction with hands-on practical sessions. Participants were drawn from all six regions of Somaliland and represented more than 27 healthcare institutions—underscoring the program’s nationwide reach and the collective commitment to strengthening emergency healthcare services across the country.
According to the program organizers, all participants successfully graduated after maintaining perfect attendance, recording no instances of tardiness, and achieving scores above 60 percent in their post-training assessments.
This achievement highlights Taiwan ICDF’s substantial contribution to strengthening Somaliland’s healthcare system by cultivating a highly skilled emergency medical workforce capable of delivering quality, life-saving care throughout the country.
The organizers extended their sincere appreciation to the program’s 16 master trainers and administrative team for their dedication and professionalism. They also commended all participating doctors and nurses for their unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare standards in Somaliland.
The successful rollout of the initiative reaffirms Taiwan ICDF’s continued support for healthcare development and institutional capacity-building in Somaliland, contributing to a more resilient and responsive healthcare system for communities nationwide.
