The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia warmly welcomes the joint statement issued by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Türkiye, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Djibouti, the State of Palestine, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of the Sudan, the Republic of Yemen, the Lebanese Republic, the State of Kuwait, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and the Kingdom of Morocco.
In their statement, the Ministers strongly condemned the illegal and unacceptable step taken by the northwestern region of Somalia, namely the opening of a purported “embassy” in occupied Jerusalem.
The joint statement reaffirmed that such actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, and represent a direct assault on the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem.
The Ministers further reiterated their categorical rejection of any unilateral measures that seek to legitimize arrangements contravening international law and binding UN resolutions. They emphasized that East Jerusalem has remained occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, and that any attempt to alter its legal or historical status is null and void, carrying no legal effect.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia particularly welcomes the Ministers’ clear affirmation of their full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as their unequivocal rejection of any unilateral actions that undermine Somali territorial unity or infringe upon its sovereignty.
