The Somaliland envoy to Israel, Dr. Mohamed Haji Omar, has issued a strong response to the condemnation from several Arab countries over Somaliland’s decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem.
Dr. Mohamed Haji Omar expressed regret that some Arab and Islamic nations have chosen to apply political pressure on Somaliland, instead of engaging in meaningful cooperation with the region.
Citing a post the diplomat shared on his X account, reaffirmed Somaliland’s continued commitment to its sovereign decisions—grounded in independence—and to peaceful collaboration with countries around the world.
The ambassador also noted that the relationship between Somaliland and Israel is important, built on shared interests, and is steadily growing in a constructive manner.
Dr. Mohamed Haji Omar made it clear that Somaliland favours cooperation and diplomatic relations based on mutual understanding and comprehensive partnership, rather than political pressure or any form of isolation imposed upon it
