Who Really Butters Goth, Cullen Breads?

Despite the fact that it has never been in the tradition of this column to do rebuttals on opinion items by individuals (especially those based abroad) we are however indebted to point out, expose and set issues right when the aspirations of the peoples of the country is really targeted.
When the writings of a Bashir Goth and a Jasper Carlsen Cullen claim that Somalilander majority would like a re-united Somalia, we feel that it is not only a joke too far, but indeed, they are only but words and acts of dogs-of-war in action.
For both pen mercenaries, we believe that the needs for monetary and tribal whims (for Goth in particular) are the impetus that propelled them to assume that:-
1. Majority of Somalilanders would like/want re-union with Mogadishu.
2. Fowzia (Somalia FM) is the inter-sector cum catalyst of the reversion to greater Somalia.
If Goth would only be the somewhat the consistent writer he had been at Awdalnews.com/net, he would have qualified his statements by backing them with verifiable facts to justify his about-turn sympathetic attitude towards Somalia union.
Secondly, if he was really the pragmatic character he so painfully portrayed to have cultivated over the years, he would have at least mentioned the pre-election incident at Burao, the Sanaag outcry or the post-election violence at El-Afwein.
By focusing on and manipulating the Borama, Zeila and Lowyaddo locations again and again in his article, we are not taken aback but, assuming his culture as a “Somalilander-tribally-crutched” mindset (his own words), we take it to understandably denote that he only thought of or defended his own backyard where he hails from.
It is a pity that all those years abroad, with all the education, all his responsibilities etc have not had nor nurtured him rise above the water.
He showed that he does not give (or never gave) a damn about the residents of the eastern parts of the country nor their plights at all.
In his article “Divided Somaliland and the way out” posted to websites Goth is not confident enough as to advice well on “the way out” apart from insinuating that the populace either perish in resignation or bank on Fowzia!
Goth should get out of the clannish/regional cloak and tackle issues squarely.
On the same note, a Jasper Carlsen Cullen who claims to be a free-lancer based in Kenya, posts in the websites an article akin to that of Goth. See both at Somalilandpress.com or any other site focusing on the Horn of Africa.
In “A third way out for Somaliland and Somalia”, the writer “justifies” Somalilanders’ wish to re-unite with the south by way of courtesy of the sentiments of ‘a Somalia politics researcher based in Hargeisa’ a Abdifatah Taher (someone completely unknown to local media).
Cited therein is the possibility of Fowzia to cement the re-union!
How impish the claims are!
He too argues that the people are sympathetic to the re-union course.
Cullen ridiculously reduces the plight and aspirations of Somalilanders today as those of settling on a loose union that only entails war-on-terror collaborations! He, too, does not give the “Third Way” option vividly other than alleging the softening of the hearts of the people to re-union.
By the way, perhaps Goth or other scribbling-mercenaries should have battled it out with the National Assemblies Parliament and the political party heads for agreeing to go along the elections minus the electoral process of the pre-registering of voters for elections.
How can the courts take to arbitrating in litigations where there are no prior records to facilitate the ordering of by-elections or taking to decisions that fully bind beyond the slightest of doubts?
It should be noted by everyone that in FM Dr. Omar meeting with UK cabinet member three weeks ago, SL accepted to rectify the electoral shortcomings (prior to final IOE report) in line with the expected international observers’ recommendations, if any.
The Guurti also have since ordered for the setting up of put safety nets to deter future anomalies.
Please note that:-
Given that the so called mother of democracy have officially admitted shortcomings in their electoral laws hence are reviewing their constitutions after 700 years of exercising elections;
Given that the so called champions of democracy for over 200 years did not allow the women to vote until less than five decades ago hence some of their states (in the US) still use today barbaric laws) which are tailored to deter potential natives and coloured (blacks) from voting (e.g. a traffic offence once convicted are ineligible to register as a voters).
Given that the greatest democratic nation (by population) brought India untold number of litigations;
Given that the most technologically advanced and arguably richest nation today denies Chinese people to go to polls;
Given that the richest and most powerful nations in the Islamic world today considers voting as something abominable;
Given that the Rwandese and Kenyan peasants were murdered by the tens of hundreds of thousands in tribal power brokerages scenarios;
Given that our regions in this corner of the world have never tasted the fruits of one- person-one vote as we have done;
We see, feel and believe that such writings are outrightly abusive to our essence and to the memories of our past struggles, to our present endeavours and to our aspirations as a whole, not withstanding whatever our future portends.

  1. This article is a joke. The author seems one of those delusional baghdad bob lol

    Inshallah SNM will fall and run back to ethiopia and suck on mengistu's punani like in 1980's loool

    • That is just plain nasty…unislamic and just not in our DNA….uuf caleyk wana ku fanaysa.

      Who is winning kooyeh! Cajiib.

    • My brother the great SNM shall never fall but instead will rise up again only this time against its hijackers
      that managed to hijack it by turning it from The Somali National Movement into a isolated Somaliland-NM secessionist enclave

  2. berbera
    mr faqash keep on barking like a doog as usual ya allah please erase faqash from the earth

  3. Justified response to all those haters of Somaliland and what it rightly stands for.
    Cheers.

  4. Egge,

    Before you equate Somaliland with great Britain, U.S.A., China, India and wealthy Arab countries let me remind yiu a simple fact; four-fifth of the funding of your fake elections is donated by foreign doners. Somaliland could only come with one-fifth of the funding.

    And if we go by the fraudlent results of the recent municipal elections in Somaliland, one could justifiably argue that these elections are easy to get money for Garadagland adminstration. Because Somaliland elections are only limited in the triangle betweenn Burao, Hargeisa and Berbera and even there a lot of people have lost life and limb as one tribe robbed everyone else.

  5. Egge is my cousin and it amazes me how much he felt for the widows' fake and fairytale stories. You guys don't need to worry about him, he is part of a small Isaxaaq group who wish to cry in isolation until the tears dry up like the Sahara.

    I would advise him to start acting like a man instead of clapping for the grievers and understand the Somali race is one and their nation is non-negotiable. No one can break it up.

    There is no need for a "re-union" because this nation has not even broken up, all it needs is national government that delivers national programmes.

    As you can see separatists claims are fake, take for example, Egge, Fowzia Yusuf Haji Adan and myself are all Isaxaaq of the HY and its clear 2/3 want Somali Republic…this is just a snap shot of the reality on the ground.

    He is only entertaining the separatists because his bread and butter depend on it at this moment but once we give him muuffo, I will assure you he will change heart. Separatism is game led by few Gambela Ethiopians especially from Garadaag and Gabiley. No one else.

    I recommend you all read this: http://hiiraan.com/news4/2013/Jan/27756/somalia_c

    SNA is going to be rebuilt and one of these days, even if it takes 20 years, I will take the northern branch leadership and I won't be afraid to turn the barrel on the likes of Egge — Sorry inadeer but Somalia is Somalia. You have to go else where to entertain your wild imaginations, not on Somali soil.

    I hope the separatists get it.

    • Kayse,

      The way comment on whatever others write tells us that you are not Isahaag, not even belong to Isaaq.
      If your are Isahaag, who are are, Kayse who and who and who and who. Just name some your close relatives.
      Fosiya Yusuf Haji Aden Qabilty is Isahag, and she is just a person who simply sought to upgrade here career graph and nothing else. She could not even have the ability to convince and persuade ever her own family to support Somalilweyn. Your cheap argument does change anything at all. Remember that men were men whnn war was a gentleman's game. A person like you cannot take a barrel and aim at anybody from Isahaag.

      • Mr. Abdisamad Mooge “Kayse” is Isaxaaq man from New Hargeysa. We know him. This man used to be true son and die-hard Somalilander, right here in this forum of SomalilandPress.com.

        What got into his head and changed him to this 360 degree, you may ask ? ….

        Well, it is 64,000 question everyone is asking ?

        I hope this does become a new Isaxaaq movement front against SILAANYO Administration because of that Warshedda Kabista incident in last June 2012.

        I also hope SILAANYO to release all 27 Isaxaaq youngsters still in Hargeysa Central Prison. Xaglo Toosiye became a minister for his armed opposition against Somali land and all his Dhulbahante militiamen were released and bestowed with GIFTS.

        So, there is your KAYSE, and there is no need to pass his details to SILAANYO's new NSS, unless you are one of their new recruits anyway.

        Mohamed

    • thank you for the advice, I have grown tired of talking to blind and def people who only repeat the same few lines like parrot.

      Cheers.

  7. Imagine that the whole north eastern part of the united states was systematically destroyed by the United States forces, whole cities like New York, Boston and Philadelphia being carpet bombed and the rest of the country said swee t f uck all, and then the Marines started to attack those fleeing the cities making sure that no one got out alive.

    Thats not even counting the Mass graves the poisoning of well, what if the American Armed forces started to poison the water systems in certain cities? How American would the North Eastern United States feel? How Somali or Muslim did you think we felt? And when we even try to say what happened to us you try to shut us down and say hateful words or claim that we all suffered equally. And you have nerve to wonder why we dont want anything to do with you?

    No the suffering was not equal, your suffering came at your own hands, ours came at the hands of all Somalis!

    • Stop being a child and except the fact, that it was not all Somalis, but a authoritarian tyrannical Government. Who at one point or another, some of the very people who call you heroes today served.

      Siade Barre arrested and killed many people who he suspected to be part of a military coup d'état.
      Which lead to fleeing of the remainder suspects and the forming SNM and other groups abroad and at home. Since SNM was the furthest geographically and strongest of the groups, Siade Barre would've did anything and everything he could to suppress and demoralize them.
      Which ultimately failed and forced him to take drastic decision, like the bombing of populated cities, poisoning of wells, but do not sit there and act like you were the only ones who got this treatment because guess what other parts of Somalia did.

      If you would get you head out of your a** and actually researched and look at the bigger picture you would see, that that government would've did anything to remain in power, and because of their very actions, in last 21 yrs many Somalis lost their life's.

      How many children do you think died in the hands of their mother's starving, huh, or are you so fixated on yourself that you're willing to over look everything that happened to others, are you over looking at the fact the very group that started the armed rebellion, did nothing after the toppling of the Government, they didn't feel like they had a responsibility to help their people (not just Isaaqs).

      I say all the people who fought the Government and toppled Government had a responsibility and duty to restore peace and change our nation, every single clan and their so called movements had a responsibility and duty, they also had opportunity to do that in the 21 yrs.

      It is sad that foreigners were the one's who had to take the initiative to reclaiming your country, and had to force it down your throats. It Also sad that it is foreigners who have to have force you to sit down with each other just to talk and work out your problems, while at the same time looking at you as your primitive buffoons, who can not do anything for yourselves but to kill and blame each other, along clan lines which most of the civilized and educated world has surpassed, maybe except your African brothers and Arab. Oh wait I thing I just started another useless argument, which are you African or Arab. Oh wait could it be possible that your both African and Arab. Just like North Somalis and South Somalis are right.

      Ya Allah my people have pride but no shame and no common sense.

      • To telltmetruth person, You must be denial the fact , when you are saying it was Siad Barre's regime who did this, how many persons Siad was ? I think we can agree he just was one man and one man can not massacre thousands of people in Somaliland. He had all Somali clans who knew either what they were doing at the time or can claim that they were just following the orders of their superior!. Past is a past you can not bring back the death, but it would have given you a little bit respect if you admit that all Somalis attacked one clan, defendless children, women, and men.

        • Layla i have dead family members, because of Siade Barre, I have family members who died of the after math of his Government, I have uncles who literally went insane because of this civil and all it's hardships. I am not Isaaq, In fact I am Darood, so don't sit their and say we all were involved. The only people who were involved with that man at that point, were people who had benefits for him to remain in power. You see the world today, when a dictator is about to lose power he unleash all his fire power to kill and demoralized as many people as he can, Also so usually the people who started the rebellion take the brunt of a dictators attack.

          Siad was one man, but he was surround by like minded cronies, and do you honestly think he simply just ordered hey lets kill some Issaqs, come on you and I know that the number one dictator tool is propaganda and second is fear. If those two thinks fail, that's when all hell breaks loose, which only leaves a dictator one thing to do kill as many as he can, bomb and massacre as many as he can, pit every one against each other, and then last but not least run like a coward.

          Layla it's been 21 yrs and counting, yet know one wants to dig the truth and study it thoroughly, yet every one wants to tell you how they suffered. Which is sad because at the end of the day we all suffered, and how will we know, with out a comprehensive and honest study of how we suffered. Layla you and I know, how many highly educated somali there are, how come no one is calling for anything, aside from lets dig specif graves and, so we can suffered the most. Lets dig up all the skeletons in our closets, and see where the truth takes us.

          I personally believe that everybody involved in the civil war had victimized some one at some point, so none of them want the truth, they just want a card they can play, when arguments get heated.

          Well I say no, to emotionally black mail, I personally didn't do and had absolutely nothing to do with it all. No one is gonna convince me one life is more important then another.
          So to sum it lets ask for the truth or forget about bringing up the dead and let them rest in peace, and
          MAY ALLAH GRANT THEM ALL PARADISE.

          • To tellmethruth, If I say to you that you have not lost family member in this war, I would be denial like others, However, what I am against is we have to forget it as though nothing has happened in Somaliland, Somalia. If someone did something bad to you, you do not just reconcile and forget about it. You want that person to admit and apologise the way they treated it you. Dead deserve justice and I do not mean killing others, but someone has to admit and pay remorse of their actions. I do not believe that we all victimsed others. Somali war we had and have victims and victimsers. Personally I do not like clan, and I will never support clan because its old custom and does not do any one good. However, I strongly believe justice and we will not get justice until wrong doers admit it.

  8. Eggie,

    Thank you, for very informative article. I would like to add this, for those of you who keep on dreaming that one day Somaliland will for go their god given right of self-determination, and reunite with a failed state, this will ever happen again. If you think Somaliland people are eagerly waiting to rejoin the South, you are really insulting the intelligence of 97% of our people who voted in 2001 referendum stating never to again be part of failed state.
    Please, stop these cheap shot towards Somaliland going back to failed state. Can you guys come up with something else?

  9. Kayse/Allemagan,
    you talk too much but i tell you that you are badly missing the rubber khaatumo seeg seal stamp endorsement of Ayanle dhulos? Without his endorsement, you two are in dilly dally whirlwinds.
    Btw that Ayanle looks after my chickens butcher house lol.
    Cheers.

    • You forget to say Bashir is the guy who sided with Siyad Bare against SL people and called us bad boys who deserve to be eradicated by Siyad Bare's regime. He is a hater who is a tribal to the bone and has no conviction whatsoever. When a Gadabursi is president Bashir is for SL , when Isaaq is president he is for Somali.

  10. My friend Mr. Goth is known to be Awdalite and nothing else. He could be someone who believes Somalia, but failed to understand what the majority of his people want it. He further forgetting this new atmosphere in Seilah will not do any good to his people. Zeila is known to be Issa enclave historically, and will only fire back to his people if he puts more oil to the fire that is there now. He has never been a Somalilander, but use to support President Riyaale, because he is from same region.

    His writing will not do any good for Somalia or his people, but exposing himself that he is against the people of Somaliland. He is one of those who……….

  11. Letter to the self isolated secessionist Buddhist:

    Its time you people gave up on this myth that the secessionist were always the majority in Sland because
    that believe has always been construed only in your coconut heads.

    The only reason you got away with this treacherous crime of seceding for this long is the people of Sland never had a choice but to stay numb seeing as the South was in turmoil who in their right mind would of disagreed i know i wouldn't especially against a hijacked heavily armed grieving out for revenge movement called the SNM

    But in their hearts of hearts they always knew were it lay so were left with no other option but to wait for the day the South got its house in order also helping was knowing these vultures dream was never gonna come true.

    Now that day has come there are already thousand upon thousands of Isaaqs from politicians to labourers that have backed their bags (obviously temporary but who knows) and headed South for job opportunities with more patiently waiting for them to deliver the good news.

    In other words the majority Unionist people of the North has been awoken.

    • Comeagain,

      I think you are trying to practice how to write English. Please get back to school and learn more.

      • wow aren't you intelligent, you know how to insult people. good job hibo. I guess if they are half Ugandans you must be outright habashi. Hey guess what hibo i just realised it's fun insulting others with BS.

    • LOL- What planet are you on. "headed South for job opportunities with more "

      The unemployment rate in the south is almost 100%.

      Wallahi these people are something else. What next?

  12. why are they holding billboards written ''reer Sool and Qarinima Sland waa Muqadis''' when these photos ware taken?. these people are proper comedian y'know, Abtiyaal Somalidiina dhinac ka raaca before it's too late no need Qiiro Japan, SOMALIA IS ONE

    BTW listen to Eng Faysal Ali warabe http://www.bbc.co.uk/somali/war/2013/01/130119_so… he knows what's going on in north/west Somalia, you're a bunch of clueless Diasporas lool

    • Amirah,

      Thank you for putting the proof in front of dreamers and the misguided separatists. It is heart warming to hear the resignation in the voice of the father of all separatists – Faisal Ali Warabi. It is about time that clan loyalists realized that dual-track policy of the IC for Somalia and Somaliland (sic.) was only about how to portion foreign aid to Somali people and nothing else.

      Men like Faisal Ali Warabe have capitalized on dividing Somali people long enough so that they can pocket the meagre funds provided by the international community to feed our suffering people. Faisal has been travelling the world and have visited every capital selling a snake oil to all to enrich himself doing exactly what he is alleging that Silanyo's administration is doing now – entertaining some of ou poor folks that they will be recognized as a country. Somalia is one country and its people are one and the same.

  13. lol!!!!!!!ur joggers sitting on swing boats going nowhere we can not and never join somalia which flattery and odd.we have move forward have solidarity mandates never surrender and come back to somalia ur just having big heads of chewing khats and dreaming for impossible mission !!!!!!!!!!!!!!viva somaliland

  14. Its really very simple the people of Somaliland made a major mistake in 1960 to Merge a Mafia state called Somalia. NEVER AGAIN.

    Somaliland has been absolutely independent from Somalia for 22 years, that is the reality of the ground and nothing you can say can change that.

    LOL- Somalia doesn't even have its own Army for Police outside of Mogadhisho. And the people of In sool, sanag that do not want to be part of Somaliland its simple move to Mogadhisho. As one of my uncles onces said " land doesn't move, people do"

  15. Awdelite are visionaries who see things beyond the horizon, Seilza issue cannot be something that create any trouble between the two clan who live there and aspire unity and better future for Somalia. If the secessionist think they found a formula to keep these people busy under their shade, they are dreaming. Issa and Gadabursi love each other than any two neighbor clans in Somalia.
